San Pedro Square

The oldest district of downtown, on the northwest side, now known for San Pedro Square Market and its restaurants, with the Peralta Adobe and the Fallon House at its heart.

San Pedro Square is described as the oldest district in the city. It holds the Gonzales/Peralta Adobe of 1797 and the Fallon House of 1855, which History San José runs together as a historic site with docent tours.

Plans to build a public market around the two houses were debated in 2008, and today San Pedro Square Market is a dining and nightlife spot beside the adobe’s plaza.
