Hotel Montgomery

The 1911 Classical Revival hotel on South First Street that was rolled about 187 feet south in 2000 to save it.

Built by T. S. Montgomery, the hotel stood in the way of an expansion of the Fairmont. On January 29, 2000, the Redevelopment Agency had it moved on hydraulic jacks and rubber wheels, one of the heaviest buildings ever moved that way. It reopened in 2004 and is now a Four Points by Sheraton.
